How AI Plan Check Works — Upload, Review & Fix Drawings

How AI plan check works: upload construction PDFs, get cited code & coordination issues in hours. Step-by-step plan review process — first $100 covered.

How AI plan check works

InspectMind works like spellcheck for construction drawings. Upload PDFs once; the AI reviews thousands of pages in parallel, cross-referencing specs, codes, and every discipline. You get a prioritized issue list with evidence — not a generic checklist.

Four-step workflow

Step 1: Upload your drawings

Upload PDFs or connect SharePoint, Box, Procore, ACC. Upload drawings, specs, design manuals, QA checklists, shop drawings, building codes — all as PDFs Add specs, codes, internal QA checklists, and guidelines—we check against all of them Specs don't count toward sheet pricing AWS secure infrastructure, data stays confidential

Step 2: AI reviews everything

AI cross-checks drawings, specs, and codes across all disciplines simultaneously. Auto-detects IBC, ADA, IECC, and common codes Upload local ordinances, internal QA checklists, or guidelines—we check drawings against those too Save codes to your account library so you don't re-upload every project Constructability: catches issues like insufficient fastener length, unbuildable connections Catches issues humans miss under time pressure

Step 3: Review prioritized issues

See issues organized by severity with exact sheet references and cost impact. Direct sheet, spec, and code citations Prioritized by cost & schedule impact Filter by discipline and severity

Step 4: Export and share

Export to Excel, PDF, Procore, or ACC. Share with your team. One-click enterprise export Team sharing & assignment built in Integration with your PM tools

What you receive

Structured Comment Tracker

Excel-format issue list with discipline tags, severity classification, and sheet/code references. Easy to assign, track, and close out. Format: Excel (.xlsx).

Code Compliance Report

Summary of applicable codes (IBC, ADA, fire/life safety), pass/fail areas, and gaps requiring clarification. Format: PDF Report.

Cross-Discipline Coordination Log

Issues organized by discipline conflicts—architectural vs structural, MEP clashes, civil coordination problems. Format: Excel + PDF.

Branded Reports

Add your company logo and customize report templates for client-facing deliverables. White-label options available for enterprise. Format: Enterprise.

Turnaround and accuracy

Small sets (under 50 sheets) often return in 10–30 minutes. Larger tender sets with hundreds of sheets typically complete within a few hours. Accuracy is 80–90%; every finding includes the drawing snippet and code reference so you can verify in seconds.

Common questions

What does InspectMind AI actually do?

Think of it as spellcheck for drawings. InspectMind AI reviews your architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings, specs, schedules, and codes, and automatically flags issues—dimension mismatches, spec vs drawing conflicts, cross-sheet coordination errors, and code violations—before they hit the field. Instead of manually hunting through thousands of pages, you get a prioritized issue list you can fix while changes are still cheap.

How long does an AI check take?

Same-day results. Most projects complete the same day; 200-500 sheet projects often in a few hours. You get an email when results are ready, and you can self-serve runs without talking to sales.

Can InspectMind AI compare revised drawings and addenda?

Yes. InspectMind AI compares original vs revised sets and addenda/ASIs vs contract documents, highlights what changed, where new issues appear, and what needs a second look, so you can manage revisions and change orders with clarity.

How does InspectMind AI fit into our existing QA/QC process?

InspectMind AI is designed for zero workflow change: upload PDFs (or pull from connected storage), run an AI check, then review and assign the prioritized issue list. Teams typically run InspectMind AI before or in parallel with their manual review so humans start with a curated list instead of a blank page.

How does the AI determine critical vs high vs medium severity?

The AI assigns severity based on impact. Critical issues are those that would result in design changes, construction delays, or significant rework if not addressed—e.g. code violations affecting life safety, major coordination conflicts, or constructability problems. High issues are important but less likely to stop the job. Medium and Low cover things like typos, invalid sheet references, or minor inconsistencies. Every issue includes an explanation so you can verify and re-priority or mark as 'not valid' if you disagree.

Can we compare two spec sets or two drawing sets side by side?

Not yet. Today you run one set through the checker and get an issue list. A side-by-side 'what changed between set A and set B' or 'spec set 1 vs spec set 2' comparison view is on our roadmap. In the meantime, many teams run each set separately and compare the issue lists (e.g. run district standard specs, run design team specs, then triage the differences). We're also building progressive check tracking so you can see which issues were fixed between revisions.
